Hi I am new here. I have just gone through a few topics regarding why most employers do not give a response.
I noticed something in particular. It is regarding the specialization field in work experience module.
How come we are only allowed to put in one specialization whereas in most IT jobs now, most or all in matter of fact IT personnel are required to specialize in more than one field.

E.G. :
Myself, my last job requires me to specialize in IT/Computer-Hardware, IT/Computer-Software and IT/Computer-Network/System/Database Admin but in my work experience, I can only update one specialization only.
Does this mean I have to create a few same work experience with the same job?

According to the post by P^K in FAQ topic "Why do I get no response from the Employer", all employers are given the luxury to view our summary in a table which I believe would be something similar to the job suitability table which we get when we apply for a job.
(P.S. : Please correct me if I am wrong)

Now base on the example above, if I were to apply for a job which the specialization required is IT/Computer-Network/System/Database Admin but I could not put it in my last job specialization field, how would the employer know that I do specialize in the required field when I can only put one specialization. And this I believe do contributes as one of the main reasons why employers give "no response" to applications (not forgetting the fact that a lot of employers are not obligated to give a response to job seekers they feel under/over qualified)

My suggestion after all my HUHA above, is jobstreet.com allow we the job seekers to put in more than one specialization in the specialization field. I believe this actually can give us an additional edge in securing our dream job.

Probation Period! Need Help! Pls.

Hi..

I am totally stressed out by my new job. Seems that there are alot of loopholes in the company. And I really need your help.

I have been working in this company for 6months and I am still under probation. However, my employer said that if I were to tender my post, I will be made to pay the bond. I don't know whether she is just trying to scare us off or it's true. Because when we had a meeting, she never mention anything about paying the bond. She just said that if you want to continue working here, you have to step up the game. To my understanding, when under probation, we are save from the bond and the will only start when we are a confirmed staff.

This is what the contract states:
In consideration of the training you will be bound to the company by a Bond amounting to $... and tenable over a period of ... years. This Bond will take effect upon commencement of your employment with the company. If you terminate the employment before the expiry of the Bond period of ... years, you will be required to pay a pro-rated sum based on the remaining Bond.

I have not gone through any external trainings. Just on the job training. So does that mean I still have to pay the pro-rated bond? If I do not have to pay and my boss still insist on paying, can I argue with her?

I will appreciate if you could get back to me as soon as possible because it seems that the company is trying to play around with the words.

But when I login, the status still remain the same : Under Consideration.

How come it has not changed to Shortlisted?

Just wondering why e-mails of referees are marked as a required column?
My former employer, who has agreed to be my referee, is quite conservative and does not have an
e-mail address. Because of this, i have missed quite a number of job opportunities as i could not fill in the required column for an e-mail address.

Can you make this column optional instead? I know it sounds ridiculous that in this modern day and age some companies/people do not even have an e-mail but it is quite true.

I somehow wonder, when I clicked at the job that I think I am 100% qualified and confident to be shortlisted just never came with a very good status, even worse.. no status at all.

Dear Jobstreet, first of all, I just started to wonder, when I clicked on job and simply applied to it because I want the Job.. it would lead me to a page that would show either I am educationally qualified, or years of experience indicated fit to my years of experience in that particular field or job. Then there is this details that display the statistical information on that JOB.. of how many applicants have applied for the job, with how many have a lower salary expectation or higher or within my expectation.

Ever since the nation was hit with economic downturn, to be seriously frank, Jobstreet is where I rely much to look for the job that I wish to change my life. Although I do have Jobsdb.com or Jenjob, I find Jobstreet to be visually attractive and that urged me to click every single job even to those that I was not even qualified. However... I believe because of the functions that you offer to help the employers to sort every application according to salary level expectation, years of qualification have made HR hit their KPI, or quota or get candidates way easier then how it was before. I maybe looking at it in that perspective which somehow made me feel a little frustrated when all of my applications were kept under consideration or even not viewed at all. I understand that I may not have those what they need. But guess what...here is my finding:

I received no call for interview when I applied jobs under jobstreet.. but I get a call for the same job advertised in Jobsdb. Funny but true. Plus, they never questioned my salary for I am confident, I am not any typical jobseeker who just brings the same words like everybody else. For the last 5 months, I never get a call from the jobs i have applied in jobstreet.. but I get alot from other online job portals. Well, they were 1... but that was a link that direct me to the website and required me to fill up their online job application. Not Jobstreet.

What does this tell you..? employers are getting cheaper labors and disregard the quality that people like me have which of course commensurate the salary that i stated. Sad but its true.. I even asked my HR and thats what they are doing too.. probably not all HR.. but who knows, probably to those that i have applied so far. And dealing with so many people in the industry that I am currently into... these people, are way way below my expectation... ever heard of an incident when you deal with people who are way above yourself but incapable of doing their job or even write/reply an e-mail. behind all that, you suddenly get to know that she/he was hired through jobstreet.

I just though of sharing this.. who knows, you guys might want to look into it...

Just wonder how much expectation should we expect from the next potential job?
Let's say I'm earning above average at this point of time and getting a new job offer.

Hello and good day to everyone...

I have been pondering and searching about this matter for a veery long time.
How do you make a cover letter to send in a resume to a company if no vacancy has been advertised? This is assuming that you are initiating contact with an employer to inform them of your skills and availability, and to suggest that they consider you for any vacancies that arise.

I do hope someone could enlighten me on this matter. Thanks a lot for any feedback.

im a recruitment manager i have been trying to search my resume to see if its listed in the resume search section i have a company id as well... i cant seem to find it..... i also have been to many interviews where the employes claim that they see my CV upside down in terms of work history in the page..... my current company comes below hence causing confusion and i believe affects my chances of getting a job..

The study polled a total of 21,627 respondents from various sectors including government, healthcare, IT, services, telecommunications, legal and finance, and across eight Asian economies: China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

In this year's salary benchmarks, IT professionals in Hong Kong again led the pack, commanding the highest average annual salary of US$66,140. Their peers in Singapore and Thailand ranked in second and third, drawing annual paychecks of US$45,341 and US$20,154, respectively.

ZDNet Asia conducted an online survey between October 2008 and May 2009, to gain insights into salary trends and IT workforce across Asia.

The study polled a total of 21,627 respondents from various sectors including government, healthcare, IT, services, telecommunications, legal and finance, and across eight Asian economies: China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

Some 2,722 respondents were from Malaysia, holding full-time positions with job functions that cut across several areas such as systems development, project management and support.

In addition, 154 respondents from the country were either contract or independent consultants, while another 15 held part-time positions, working fewer than 28 hours a week.

Respondents who held IT management responsibilities in the IT, Web and telecommunications industry were the highest paid among their peers in Malaysia, pulling in an average salary of 102,280 ringgit a year.

I have a problem uploading my resume word document. After browsing for my word doument file and click upload, an error message that read "Invalid file format" appear. I realised after selecting my word document file the website automatically converts my word document file extension to ".DOC", which became an invalid file format. What do i do to change the file extension to ".doc"

Scholarships for the needy

I wish to offer scholarships to 50 poor students for the next academic year to study finance and accountancy in University TAR, Kampar, Perak on the following conditions:-

1. Each student�s family income should not be more than Rm 2,000 per month.
2. Students will be selected more on the basis of their financial need and not merely on their academic achievement.
3. Each scholarship is worth Rm 20,000 which should be enough for each student to cover the cost for the first year foundation course and the first semester of the degree course in finance and accountancy until he or she secures the PTPTN loan. This Government loan is given to all students irrespective of race and financial position who are doing a recognised degree course.
4. Students who receive my financial aid do not require to pay back the money or work for me after they graduate. But I want them to promise me that they will help other poor students when they have graduated and are financially solvent.

U TAR takes in students in January and June every year. Students who are currently doing SPM can submit their applications to U TAR this October with their forecast results to start in January 2010.
